Bottomless Culverts are an excellent choice where no disturbance to a stream and/or wetland is a requirement of a governing jurisdiction.
Where cover over the top of a bottomless culvert is limited to 2' to 4', an aluminum box culvert similar to the one shown on the picture should be specified.
Where cover over the top of the bottomless culvert is 5' or greater generally a pure arch would be more cost-effective.
Most jurisdictions do not consider the length of bottomless culverts as a part of the maximum limit for piping a stream.
